Jasper Johal photographing the Moscow subway station

Hi, I'm Jasper. Born and raised in a small town in central India, I flew half around the planet to arrive in the US when I was nineteen. Now I am based in Venice Beach, California. Entirely self taught, I have been shooting images since I was thirteen.

Over the years I have photographed a wide range of work, from B-Movie posters to CD album covers (when musicians were still pressing CDs); from hippie jewelry to the cover for a top architecture magazine; from chillum smoking sadhus at the Kumbh Mela in India to food photography with some of LA's best chefs. Now I am mostly known for my yoga and dance photography (some with clothes on, much of it without!).

Credits include dozens of magazine covers around the world; ad campaigns for companies like Hard Tail, ToeSox, and Yogitoes; ten years of art nude calendars called The Body as Temple; and marketing images for some of our most well known and loved yoga teachers.

During our youth adventure beckons and it is hard to resist its siren call. Having traversed the globe many times, I am deeply grateful for the beautiful life I have been afforded through my craft.

I am not about to retire just yet, but I do find myself drawn more and more to a life of quiet simplicity and contentment. Lately I find myself focusing more on personal projects based on things I love to shoot, and then making them available for others to enjoy, such as my writing journals and poetry books.

Since some of my art includes nudes, Facebook and Instagram are not the best fit for sharing. I mostly rely on my mailing list to let you know about my new creations. If you feel comfortable sharing your email with me, I will do my best to drop some beautiful art in your mailbox from time to time. Please subscribe using the button below.
